Ryot

They till the soil,

They sow the crops,

The water it with care,

The harvest for their fare,

They work hard all year,

To the time and seasons they adhere,

Without them there is no food,

They are the RYOT , the people of good deed.

  1. I’ve never heard the word “ryot.” I assume it compares to farmers. One of the best things about blogging is all you learn about other cultures. Thank you.

  2. Thank you for posting this beautiful poem.

It’s an elegant reminder of true value and a thoughtful reflection how jobs considered lowly (and people often mistake job worth with human worth) are those most aligned with life and our true nature.

In Buddhist or zen terms I think your poem lifts the veil of ignorance and provides a glimpse of reality.
